Proposed Development

Development Description: construction of a primary school with capacity for c.960 pupils, together with ancillary works, on lands at Athlumney, Navan, Co Meath. The primary school is to be constructed in a 2-storey building of c.5,763sq.m containing 32no. general purpose classrooms and associated backup areas including staff offices, and meeting rooms; Libraries, resource rooms, a divisible multipurpose halls; toilets, stair wells and circulation areas. Vehicular access to the school grounds from the west is provided from a new 6m wide distributor road (c.365m in length) which connects to the constructed distributor road to the south of Birch Lawn, Athlumney Hall, Navan, Co. Meath. A footpath and a cycle path are provided alongside the new road. This new road is also intended to serve the future development of other zoned lands adjacent to the application site. 88 no. car parking spaces (46 Staff and 42 visitor spaces) are provided with additional over-flow car parking of 26 spaces being accommodated on the multiuse basketball court to the south of the school buildings. (114 spaces in total). Site development and landscape works are also proposed, including the provision of 4no. ball courts (2 for the senior school and 2 for the junior school) and 2no. hard play area (one each for the junior and senior schools). An attenuation tank of 70 cu. m is also to be provided in association with the surface water drainage works.
